Default EPL found lots wrong with my car..

I was going in for a fueling/custom tune upgrade from my current setup. When i got there he was curious as to why my engine bay sounded like American bandstand with a crazy assortment of noises. As far as my ignorant self could tell thats just the way the car sounded since I went stage 3 and it was completely normal. If thats all you ever heard from the car wouldnt you think it was normal too? probably. Anyway after a 5 minute test drive and a few more of looking around in the engine bay he discovered that my fans didnt turn on unless the air conditioning was on(retarded) and that my steering pump needed to be replaced. A few days later i was informed that there was some rubbing on the timing belt which would naturally lead to long term damage. Of course i gave them the go ahead to fix it and they did. Pictures below.

this is the actual condition/sound ive had since i recieved it as a stage 3 car. timing belt cover was broke/ obscene noise... http://youtube.com/watch?v=diGvOccI7ac
you can probably hear the hummin over my exhaust. anyway im torn as to what to think in regards to the condition of these parts..was it shoddy worksmanship or just the parts time to go? the steering pump i could see but the timing belt is hard for me to believe as it was replaced by the same people that did the stg 3 install. Default Yup. Mine was dead when I came back from vacation. Battery finally died after 6 1/2 years.

I was psyched to drive my car after hanging out in 3rd world countries (3 MB, 0 BMW, 0 Audi), but she was as dead as a rock. Wife was not amused...
