Default I understand the cam bar (used) and crank lock pin (marked crank instead), but still cant see ......

loosening the sprokets creating that big a difference. Also, can timing not be corrected via Lemmiwinks if per chance it IS off?

Default Whoa! Do not think mechanical cam timing can be changed via adaptation channels!

What you refer to is called spark advance, or "timing". This is not to be confused with cam timing when used in the context of a timing belt alignment.

Default Oh OK. Well, heard people refer to advancing timing... ASSumed too much I guess.

I never personally have used lemmiwinks (yet)

Regardless I am 99.9% sure the crank was in the same position during the install, and used the cam lock bar, I cant see my timing being off by not loosening the cam sprokets. (beating deadhorse? possibly) there was a little tension on it when installing the belt.

Default Timing belt, P/S Pump & A/C Compressor on A6 2.7T

After getting the estimate from the dealership & overcoming the shock, I decided to try this myself. I will be starting in a few days & expect the whols project to take the better part of a week (evenings-after work). Our A6 2.7T is a great car (our 2nd A6, our 5th Audi-I currently have a 2000 TT) with about 168k miles. P/S pump makes noise & A/C stipped working last fall (OCT-2011). Oh, and our son ran it our of oil after cracking the oilpan about 8 months earlier (very slight rod knock immediately afterwards, but has not gotten any louder over the past 18 months).
I plan to purchase the kit with the new tensioner & all associated parts & also replace the water pump while apart.
Any other last words of encouragement?
PS - these tech articles with pictures have been a HUGE HELP! Keep up the GREAT work.
