Clutch just gave out on me at work!
I was just waiting in line to pull in the front gate of the base I work at. Sitting in first gear, clutch in, car idling, and I suddenly felt a sort of pulsation under my left foot. Thinking I had maybe let my foot slip, I put the car in neutral, let the clutch up, and pushed it all the way back in. The car wouldn't go into any gear from that point on.
If I turn the engine off, I can get it in gear, and with the clutch pushed in the car will drive itself forward (with a lovely bouquet of clutch stink).
I'm HOPING that the clutch is hydraulic and something just sprung a leak or gave out; The pedal feels normal. I haven't had a chance to go look under the hood.
Is there a chance that something hydraulic gave out, or is it more likely the pressure plate itself?

yeah clutch PP went ..happened to me on way OUT of work 1-and no 2-nd :p
started pulsating couple days earlier (TO bearing plastic face shattered - replaced it with metal faced one).
pp does not engage/disengage anymore.

Exactly what happened to me on Wednesday. I had the same part fail on me.
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/54738/bearing.jpg"></center><p>Nothing wrong with the clutch or the PP. Just the bearing exploded.
I was in a parking garage facing the wall. Had to push the thing out and drive it in 2nd out on the street. Then I proceed to drive in 2nd, clutching in and out for stopping all the way from down town to my garage that helped me out by taking apart the tranmission and fixing the problem. What a pain in the ***.

my RS4 pp was going bad for a while anyway (it wasn't disengaging well for long time - had problems putting it in 1-st from a stop)and i though it was the trans (1-st gear syncro going ..but it wasn't the case)
