Default Thanks, Is this true for 3.0L cranks too and will I need to change a pilot bearing or bushing when

building the motor?

Default The pilot bearing is in the flywheel. You will have to swap out the automatic crank ring for a

stock (or LW) flywheel.

Same should be true for a 3L crank (but you need more than just the crank to make a 3L setup work in a 2.7 block).

Default The crank ring is the automatic equivalent of a flywheel (sort-of).

Its a big disc attached to the crank with teeth on the outer edge that engage the starter motor.

If you just have a 3.0 crankshaft with no other parts, then you don't have to worry about that. From your initial post, I was under the impression that you had a full tiptronic 2.7 motor that you were trying to mate up to a manual transmission.

You're thinking about 1.8Ts.
