windshield replacement
I got a hairline crack in my windshield. I noticed it after a car wash one day. Not sure if they did it but it doesn't really matter. I'm hesitant to go with most places found on Yelp because I think they just use the cheapest piece of glass they can find. Audi/VW uses special acoustic glass.
I ended up calling the nearest dealership and got quoted $446.96 plus $250 for labor (California, I know). I have a $500 deductible on my glass coverage. The dealer ordered the part for me and I'll get it installed next week.

Be sure they include a new gel pack for the rain sensor or it will not work correctly. Most Audi dealers know this but I've seen it happen where it got missed and another visit was required to correct it.
BTW, the price for the OEM looks right but the install cost seems high. Should be a one hour job or about $135-150. Most glass installers even come to your home and do it in that amount of time.

I had mine replaced last month by Safelife and they used OEM Audi Acoustic glass.
I went to my local Audi dealer and they did not offer this service. They told be they also use Safelife.
I have USAA for auto insurance and luckily, they didn't give me any troubles about using the OEM glass.

True. Almost all dealers will sublet out the installation to a glass company. Perhaps that dealer prev mentioned is padding their cost up from the glass installer which could explain that $250 install pricing.

It would appear the dealer is also marking up the glass as well. MSRP for a 2010 windshield is showing between $411 and $417.... We also had our windshield replaced at our house and it was a little over $150.

Yeah, it's not cheap to run a car dealership in San Francisco with minimum wage at $15. It's well understood shop labor rates are over $200 per hour in the city, and $150 outside.
