Default What are you guys seeing for MPG on the B8's?

Hi; just wondering what kind of highway mpg you guys are getting with your new cars? Specifically wondering if the seven speed DSG gearing is taller than the 6MT and therefore better on the highway in terms of MPG. What RPM are you seeing at 75 mph? Currently looking to upgrade from my 2002 A6 2.7T 6MT to either B7 or B8 S4 and wondering if the mileage is that much better with the V6T as Audi claims versus the 4.2? My driving is 95% highway and at 75-80 mph I am running 3000 RPM.

Thanks in advance.

Do you really think this is signficant? Either 3.0T transmission will do better than any 4.2 any transmission.

No doubt it will be better, but just curious how much. I think Audi was saying 30% better?

Also what RPM at 75 MPH does the DSG pull versus the 6MT? I couldn't find any specs on gearing differences for the two trannys.

Thanks.

B8 S4 6MT here. 3000RPM at 80 mph. I only have about 1300 miles on her so far. On my 30 mile trip to/from work I get about 24 MPG which is the same as I got in my 2002 B6 A4 quattro 1.8T 5MT. My 2000 C5 2.7T 6MT got about 22 MPG on the same trip. I have not yet been on a trip that is highway only to see what it gets. The DSG will probably get a little better, assuming it is driven the same

S-tronic here. 80mph = 2,500rpm in 7th. I'm getting 22+mpg on highway runs at 75mph, and 20-21 mpg on my normal runs to and from work. My 2004 S4V8 used to do 16-17mpg on the same runs to work.

I'm seeing combined 17mpg or so. I've only had it since Saturday though. There might be a little excitement in that low MPG number.

Considering you thought there was a flaw in the fuel guage due to it going to 1/2 a tank in very short order, I would agree

Damn, I just ordered some new Piloti's I better get a bigger size now.

btw - I LOVE these shoes, they are so incredibly comfortable to wear everyday, not to mention driving (especially on long trips). They are like having gloves for your feet.

Engines also get poor MPG during the break-in stage. Mileage improves as you put some miles on the odometer.
