Default What would you pay for a lightly used 2011?

Was looking to order a new 2011 when I stumbled upon a lightly used one at a nearby dealer with in the exact color/options that I want.

2011 S4 Premium S-tronic with 1000 miles. Meteor Grey with Alcantera/Leather, Sports Differential, B&O, Nav, 19" wheels and Supercharged badge.

$54,955 MSRP, listing for $52,000. The dealer offered $51,000 via email without me asking. I can order a new one for $51,500 through Zag. I'm thinking of offering $47,500 and if no take then walk away. Is this reasonable or else what would you offer? The market seems to be in their favor as I have seen very few used S4s available. Thanks for the help.

With 1k miles the car is basically new (don't know how many month it is old) so I really doubt that they would sell it for $47.5k. Of course it doesn't hurt to ask but I doubt it. Good luck.

If they offered you 51K, offer 49K and settle for 50K.

1000 miles or not. If it's never been registered then it's not considered used or in other words not transacted like another preowned vehicle. Don't expect the dealer to be view the 1000 miles as scary to them.

Interesting. My assumption is that it was registered since the dealer stated it was a trade-in, but I'll ask the specific question. If not, then what you all are suggesting certainly makes sense, but if was "owned" then and I think my offer is reasonable.

I personally think an offer of $47,500 is completely unrealistic and just a low-ball not to be taken seriously...even if it were a trade in. The dealer isn't going to cut their margins just because you can order a new one with the Zag discount. They can sell it to the next buyer that would have to order one without a special purchase discount for a grand off of sticker.

Look at what used ones are listed for on cars.com and/or autotrader. $47.5k is the pricing for a 2010 with 18K miles on it!

Based on how little you are likely to save on such a lightly used car, I think you would be better off ordering a new one. From experience, dealers are unwilling to give a significant discount for almost new, low mileage used cars. The car will probably have no issues, but you don't know how it was broken in.

even a 1000 mile very well equipped S4 at $47,500 someone is going to take a big hit. That basically is an A4 price and the dealer would be nuts, unless it is aproblem car (you never know). You could always ask. But if you cant get it for less than $52,000 (you would have to ofcourse consider the inflated dealer fees) then I would rather opt for a new one.
