USA Front License Plate Location???

USA Front License Plate Location???
Alright,
I think I'm a pretty smart guy. I've got a college degree. I work hard. Why can't I figure out how to attach my front license plate to my 2011 S4. I know, I know, I'm one of the few who put their front on, but the cops in my neighborhood are nuts about fronts, and I've been burned twice before. Its just not worth it. Anyway...
The way the car was sold to me, there was some sort of cover over the front license plate area. There were two openings on this, however, they were spaced too far apart to line up to the holes on my plate. Additionally, there was no threading in these holes, so I couldn't attach the plate through these anyway.
There are three hex-bolts holding this cover to the front of the car (one in the middle of the cover, and one on each side within the grill). When I removed this cover, there is another set of dimples, along with an outline for the plate. I've seen this referenced before as the "european" location for the plate. The two dimples (not holes, but just impressions) are still about half an inch too far apart to be able to line up with the holes on my license plate.
So heres my question: Does Audi expect me to drill holes in the dimples on the "european" location to affix my plate, or is there some sort of bracket that I wasn't given that fits into the two holes on the "cover" which would then hold my plate.
Any ideas?

I used self tapping screws to mount the plate on the audi-supplied cover. Short, stubby screws on all 4 holes, so they just extend through the cover.
The cover has an indented space for a US size plate - and extends around the the license plate. I've painted my plate holder and the audi-supplied cover flat black so it's hard to see in this photo.

Audi S4 can be ordered for a front plate filler or without
This is an option in the order form. You can get this plate from your dealer or

No, I certainly don't have that second one. I think what I have is the first link you sent, but the holes on it are way too wide set, and to large a diameter in general to mount my license plate.
I'm going to swing by the audi dealership tomorrow and see whats up.

The dealer can fix you up.
Here is a link that shows some of the options. The default is the Europlate, then there is the no license cover and the US plate cover. The S4 order form has two options for the filler plate; 6W3 & 6W9
