It doesn't matter what there is on the car, you still can't defy the laws of physics. If you go too fast around a corner in the snow there is no electronic nanny or sport diff that's going to stop you from sliding.

Well, I don't know about ice or snow ... but a vacant, wet parking lot?

Some parking lots have really dark black asphalt and it's quite smooth, especially when wet. Giving the car a little gas in a turn normally would make the car slide, but you can feel that the rear diff is working to keep the car on the line you're steering.

Anyway, it's pretty cool and I just *had* to try it for myself. I'm glad I got it. I don't normally drive like an a$$hole, but it definitely makes the car safer.

After 10 inches of snow and 50 mph winds, there is no vehicle I would have felt more safe in than the 2010 S4 and the Blizzaks I put on it.

I agree that the car stays on course even when the driver would like to do therwise. This car is a snow cat as long as the snow is not too deep.

the first S4 to have 60/40 was the 25th anniversary 4.2. This of course is not helping in the snow. the Sport Diff will help until traction is lost and then, like most LSDs will hurt you more than if it were an open diff. at least in cornering. in an open diff, around a corner you have one wheel spinning but the other is still rolling and helping you make the intended arc......instead of breaking traction and having BOTH spinning and neither helping make the corner.

It's important to note that the sport diff is a hybrid e-diff/mechanical lsd. It's tightly tied in with the ESP, ECU, and ABS systems meaning the car can completely shut down the diff to make it function like it where an open diff.
