seat comfort -- A4 vs S4
Would there be a noticeable difference in the seat comfort of an A4 with sports package and the S4? I would check for myself, except I have never seen an S4 at the dealer.

S4 seats have larger bolster, when you are doing cornering, it holds you better. It looks better too. It's nappa leather, which is a higher grade of leather than the one found in A4.

The seats look very comfortable and supportive. Any feedback from people with back problems? I have broken my back 3 times. I am one of those Xtreme sport people that forgot as you get older it breaks faster.

I found the lumbar support to be next to useless. It does have multiple adjustments to fit your body contours better. If you have memory seats, you can store the settings.

Nappa leather is a $1000 option. Regardless, I doubt the material itself would improve the comfort of the seats...mainly looking it at from the point of view of back comfort rather than holding me in place while taking sharp turns.

The benchmark for seat comfort for me so far has been the Mercedes (almost any model). It beats what is in the A4 hands down. But I don't know what the S4 is like. And, at least based on the pictures available, it looks like the seats are going to change slightly in 2013.

I haven't sat in an A4. Comparing my S4 seat to my previous Passat, I fit much better in the Passat seat (6'3" 220lbs). The bottom part of the S4 seat, the 'seat' itself, tapers up too soon for me on the sides, meaning it is too narrow beneath me. The upper part of the seat is great, and the quality all around is superb. It has gotten better with time, so either I've adapted to the seat, or I've begun to beat it into submission.

The S4 seats are quite different than the A4. And I don't know if I agree about Mercedes seats. My mother has a '10 C300 4Matic and an '11 E550 4Matic. She was just in my S4 last week and said that she thought my seats were more comfortable and supportive than either of their cars. And my Mom has had two surgeries for very significant back problems.
Most of the car mags say that Volvo sets the standard for amazing seats. They just restated that recently when reviewing the new S60.

IMHO the BMW sport package seats are the best in its line. My garage has a 2010 S4 and an MB ML 2009 (none AMG).But I used to own an 2006 BMW 330i with sport package and on a 3000 km trip I never felt back pain. I did the same ride with my ML and with my S4 and nothnig came to par. Thas is my 2¢.
