Default S4 & Bentley Continental GT Compared

Interesting video review by Chris Harris. I like how he said "The S4 is possibly the best car Audi makes".

Great video,

VW group have done this for years. Platforms, Engines, Transmissions etc are almost the same with small modifications in Audi, Lambo, Bentley. I mean obviously it will be an issue down the line, just like all the VW/Audi cars now look the same - Passat vs A4 is a good example. But hey, it's about making money for VW, streamline costs and reusing technology.

I think the best (and most hilarious) example is the GPS navigation. Look at the 2007 Audi A4 to the left and then on the 2012 Lamborghini Gallardo to the right... hmm!

All I could think of when watching that comparison review was "Why in the world would he be comparing a Bentley Coupe to S4Station Wagon (Avant)". I know he wasn't comparing body styles but watching it that's all I could think about.

Anyone else have the same reaction?

Chris Harris recently tweeted asking B8 S4 owners about Oil consumption.

He later tweeted he acquired a B8 S4.

Think he will frequent these forums???

Seems like the automotive press enjoys putting the S4 in comparos against cars that absolutely nobody would cross shop the Audi with in a million years. Remember Road and Track's comparo of the S4 with a Porsche Boxster?

Whats next? Four wheel drive thunder: S4 vs. Bugatti Veyron?

That was kind of the point in this particular comparo though. Two cars, separated by a vastly different price point, as similar as they are different.

It's not the price point that was odd, it was the style - coupe vs. wagon. Very odd!

It wasn't a comparison of the cars. It's an argument for or against homogenization. The S4 was present here not to compare its qualities to the Bentley, but only to help illustrate the relative merits or problems with reusing ideas, styles, knowledge, methods, and parts within a large brand group like VAG.
