Default Which Roof Rack to get

I need to get a roof rack to my car and are researching which once to get.
Does anyone have any recommendation on which one to get (so far Thule looks pretty good) and also -- is there such a thing as a universal fit that goes for more models than just the S4, maybe the A6 if I swap car in the future?

(if someone has a roof rack for the B8 laying around at home to get rid of, let me know

I went to rackattack.com. you can order online or go to a store near you if available. I had a Thule rack for my BMW so all I had to do was get new bases to attach to the car. They were pretty helpful and it was pretty easy to change things around.

I would recommend the Thule, they are great! They usually come in different bar lengths, so as far as swapping cars it shouldn't be a problem. The only thing you might need is to swap the boots (connects to car).I had one on an A4 a while back and put it on a Q7....all I did was swap the boots.

I had Thules for my '07 Passat and liked them. Unfortunately, I could not just change feet for the S4--the load bars were different also. It didn't seem worth taking everything apart and buying 2/3 of the parts new to make it work, so I ended up selling the assembled racks on Craigslist. Never got around to checking out racks for the S4. Hoping my wife trades in her Jeep for a truck, which she wants to do at some point. Then kayaks can co in the truck and not on top of the S, much better option I think!

Went with Thule and the Aero style blades. You guys are right, easy to adapt to various car models, also love all the extras you can get for various seasons (bike, snowboard etc).

I was looking at the same crossbars. Can you please post a pic when you have it all set up? Thanks.

Check out the Whispbars. Unbelievably quiet. Rackattack has them.
