Perspective of bolt-on upgradeable Roots or alternative supercharger.
I'm comparing the upgrade path between the B5 S4 vs. the B8 S4 when it comes time to do an upgrade. Audi had in production the B5 RS4 with K04 turbos that provided a very clean direct replacement from the stock K03s.
Since Audi does not have, from what I understand, a more powerful Roots SC in another model that has similar bolt patterns, what are the alternatives going forward? Does the market wait for something to be manufactured or do we know if there is already something available or planned in the pipeline?
MTM will probably have something soon after they get their mits on the B8, but at their prices not worth the money.

I'm think more like 400hp tops... (crank)
..as a pulley by itself might get you 30hp, exhaust another 10, and ECM could take the setup to 400 or so... but anything over 400 sounds optimistic at this point. But we won't know for sure until the tuning houses get ahold of it.

For reliability reasons it would make sense.
Audi would not be happy to see engines blowing up because they had pushed the performance too close to the limits. BMW is having issues with owners playing with the ECU to get more boost out of the turbos. They are actually being proactive in searching out these cars and voiding warranties. New software has been developed to detect the modifications .

How sure are you that there will be a b8 rs4? there was no B6.
And if there is what makes you so sure it is going to have another version of the 3.0T and not another V8.
Just throwing it out there.... Audi likes to deceive and play with us...

Sweet. I can't wait to see how crazy it gets.
Chris, I also get the sense that Audi is, secretly, expecting these cars to be 'enhanced' by the enthusiasts who buy them and has built a stout bottom end to cope. Any thoughts on this?
