New guy needs help (pricing)
We have been looking at buying an S4. Dealers near me are only discounting 2014's by $2,000. I would take the 2014 today if they would come $4,000 off but I was told that was not possible. To me the 2014 seems like a bad deal at this time of year with only a $2,000 discount.
He then says he will order me a 2015 at 2014 msrp. I expect the base price to jump some over the 2014. Is this a horrible deal? In the context of seeing a 2014 only discounted $2,000 at the end of the model year it seems like a no brainer, but part of me says this is just a bad deal. Any thoughts?

Few suggestions:
1) Try working with a high volume dealer with inventory located further away that can ship you car;
2) Join ACNA and wait 6 mos. to get 6% off MSRP on a 2015; or
3) If a member of Costco, try to find the nearest Audi dealer participating in the Costco auto buying program
There is another thread here somewhere (or maybe on another forum) where someone said they ordered a 2015 and negotiated $500 over dealer invoice even before pricing is released. Taxmaster also said he got his 2014 close to dealer invoice in another thread here. Neither $2k off MSRP on a 2014 nor a 2015 at 2014 MSRP sounds very compelling to me. I'd pass and wait / look for a better deal. Where are you located?

Some are some are not. The one closest to me does not deal much. However I can drive up to 90 minutes and find much better deals. I'm in South Florida and two dealers here that seem to deal the most are Audi Coral Springs and Prestige (Miami). There are at least 6 dealers within a 90 minute drive which helps with competition. If you don't have many dealers near you that may be the issue with pricing.
The 2014 is going to be depreciated when the 2015's are released in a month or two and they should be dealing more on those. The 2015's are the last year of the B8 so demand shouldn't be overwhelming with new generation around the corner. I think you should be able to get a better deal.

Do we really know that the 2015's are the last year of the B8? The replacement A4 hasn't even come out yet and it is generally out about a year before the S4 becomes available. I think the new A4 is targeted for launch next spring, 2015.

Any guess as to what the pending B9 S4 might bring? I imagine some engine tweaks, perhaps going the way of a twin turbo charged 4 banger? Hell even AMG has gone that route and let me tell you, that CLA45 is a little monster and fun to drive. The B8 S4 is superior to that car IMO, hence my decision to buy one. S4's tranny and traction system are far superior to what AMG has right now.

You're right - either last year or next to last year. There is speculation the S4 could be released in the same model year as the A4 since the A4 was pushed back a year (originally supposed to be MY2015 later this year). The B8 will be pretty old by MY2016 on sale next year in any event, particularly with new C class and new-ish 3 series in the market, as well as (potentially) a new Jag competitor and ATS variants.

I don't expect them to raise the prices too much though. I think they're in a sort of a sweet spot as it is and they don't want potential customers to walk away from their brand. Talk about raising prices, take a look at how costly the new BMW M3 is! It think it starts at $62k!! It's going to be a best but still.....
