Default Manual transmission and Driver assist?

Hey all,
Do any of you believe that the driver assist package, namely the adaptive cruise control feature, is pointless when paired with manual transmission? That is, if going 65 in 6th gear, and then traffic hits, the cruise slows down, but then has to get back up to 65 - but cant downshift for you...Does anyone have a stick with this feature - does it work well, or not,
thanks!
p.s. all these comments have been very helpful!

I guess it depends how much torque the motor has and how tall the gear ratio is. My '02 Maxima (6MT) could accelerate from the low 30's (MPH) in 6th gear without any problems. I don't have my S4 yet (~5 weeks out), so I can't comment on how well the car accelerates in 6th on the highway.
