Default Looking at a 2010 S4

Hey guys. Looking to get a more daily driveable (and insurable) car for myself. Currently have a 2001 Audi S3 imported to Canada from Japan.

A 2010 Audi S4 Premium Package popped up in my province at a dealer. 6MT, previous owner had some cosmetic mods done like Blacked out RS4 grille, black powder coated rims, etc.

Are these reliable cars? I've done my research, I was going to buy one before the S3 but none were worth the money at the time. I know that the early models have piston ring/oil burning and that the water pumps are weak, but is there anything else?

They are asking $16k + 5% tax and who knows what other fees. Car is white with two toned white and black interior. About 140k kms on it.

It'll be really hard to sell my S3 for the value, and I can't trade it in (import and blackbook value do not go together). Is it worth the trouble of selling my car, should I keep my car, or go for a different car?

Cost to own and reliability are the biggest concerns, as with any car. I've driven a few so I know that power, comfort, and quality feeling is definitely no concern of mine after being in some.

Any input is appreciated.

And if anyone is interested in the S3, let me know! I am in Alberta.

First of all, these are great cars. I've had 3. (2010,2014,2011) and wish I still had one (Don't ASK!) All 6MTs. They have been remarkably reliable ,even with higher miles, especially for an Audi or a German car in general. That car is in the mileage range where the T stat fails .Not if but when. Replacing that requires removing the supercharger which the labor cost is the most expensive part of the repair. While the SC is off, it is prudent to also replace the water pump and coolant tube along with the PCV valve. The 2010 has the old style PCV valve that is prone to failure and can be responsible for excess oil consumption, Talking 2 gts/ 5k miles oil consumption which really could be tolerated ? I had an Indy shop replace all those things along with changing the oil in the car and SC for $1500 US, Depending how the car has been driven by the previous owner(s) it would not be out of the norm to have to replace the clutch assembly at some time.I had issues with the clutch burning on my 2010 which I had from new.,But the clutch on my 2011,with 2 previous owners, was working just fine @ 80k miles when I sold it.You probably have no idea(and dealer probably wont know eiter ) if the car has a sport differential. I had it on all of my cars, Car is great with or with out it .But it is a part that has had some failures. You are not going to find another similar car with a MT,that is as reliable as the B8 S4 and has the combination of performance, luxury and fun to drive. Please don't buy one if you are looking for great fuel economy. Expect 18-19 MPG around town and 22-24 mpg on the highway cruising @80 mph.
