Default Keep Expensive Aftermarket Warranty or Roll the Dice??

Picked up a single owner 2014 DSG Premium Plus with 50k miles in early june for $30K (specs and hopefully photos below if can get to work). Has all the right options, is super clean, and obviously fun as hell to drive....

I bought an aftermarket warranty with bumper to bumper coverage up to 100k, but struggling with whether or not to keep it. Was super expensive-- just under $5200 up front, and thats with (i actually didnt realize at the time) a $500/claim deductible. Can be refunded in full if cancel within 60 days-- i have until 08/04/2017. Obviously would pay off if DSG goes out to the tune of ~10k to replace, but i feel like that or the supercharger would really be the only potential failures that justify cost.

I do have a decently far work commute (80 mi round trip) but only do 7 shifts per 2 weeks... will prob put around 16,500-17000 mi per year. Commute is all freeway though, so shouldnt be too hard on DSG. Also plan on babying the **** outta her in terms of maintenance and staying ahead of faults... already have VCDS and confirmed no faults at purchase.

I am not a stranger to taking risks and am not entirely averse to it in this setting given pretty solid durability of B8.5's, but still Can't make up my mind given my lack of experience with ANY German vehicles, let alone an S4. 5k toward mods vs. even just paying car off 1-1.5 yrs sooner is pretty appealing....

Help me out! Any and ALL input is valuable and appreciated.

Additionally... does anyone know any good Independent service shops in the Baltimore/DC area? Need to find a trustworthy and reliable place that actually knows VAG and can offer more than just going by the book 100%. Thanks in advance!

Here's the car and specs:

2014 Premium Plus, Ibis White on Black Napa Leather
- Audi MMI Navigation Plus Package -($3050) Includes Audi Parking System Plus
w/Rearview Camera (Includes rear acoustic warning system)
- Audi connect with 6-month trial subscription and SiriusXM Traffic with 4 year
subscription
-Audio controls on steering wheel
- Bang & Olufsen Sound System - ($850)Includes 505 watts. Includes 14
speakers
- Sport Differential +
- Aftermarket 19" wheels---> story per dealer is that prev owner came out to car on blocks

Appreciate the help guys and gals... Cheers

- Mike

The ins. co. is better at this than you. I had an after market warranty on my B5 S4 after the CPO ran out and it never paid off. Now I self insure. Put that $5k in the bank to have if you need it and keep it if you don't.

I recently bought a 2013 S4 DSG with 49k miles, bought the warranty for 3k, promptly cancelled it after reading how reliable these cars are.

Also, imo those wheels don't do your car justice!

First of all, you payed WAY too much for your warranty. Secondly, theses cars are really reliable. I suggest starting a slush fund by putting $50-$100 away each month for repairs. If you need repairs, put it on a low interest credit card and pay it off monthly. I bought a 3 yr 36k Silver Fidelity warranty from dealer when I bought my car over 3 yrs ago from dealer. Never used it. Wasted my money. BUT I recommend contacting Troy Dietrick for a much better price on a warranty Staff Directory for Toyota of Greenfield. There have bensome issues with the DSG. But Troy will get you a much better price if you feel more comfortable having a warranty. Plus you should think about buying a less comprehensive or shorter term warranty as well. Call him. Worse case is that you don't buy one from him. Best case is that you save a lot of money

I too paid for the insurance, bought my car new though. I paid just a tad under $3,000 for coverage up to 100k miles. I never used it, it was a piece of mind though. I now have 110,xxx miles on my 2013. If you plan on upgrading the software or other items, it probably best to get out of your coverage....Or get the extended warranty elsewhere. I think you paid a bit too much, IMO.
