I can't believe that's normal wear and tear for a 9k clutch....

... and I'm not doubting you're abilities to drive. I'd say there's something defective there, but I can't imagine what it would be. Almost like it wasn't engaging fully.

How much did it cost to have the factory parts "fixed" by Clutchmasters?

I was mostly kidding. My internet sarcasm is rusty... Although I did have great luck with my 1995 M3's clutch as the original went out at 178K miles and it had many track days under it's belt.

The clutch in my S4 feels great and strong... overall better feel than my 95 M3.

Clutchmasters charges $700 to upgrade factory parts - I got all new parts since I got them at cost but my old parts could be upgraded by them as well. Anyone who wants to can contact them to doublecheck and have my old parts for lots less than new parts.

And how much is the labor to get them installed?

Sorry for the slight deviation in topic, but is there any difference in wear if you have put the car in neutral at lights with foot off the clutch or just keep it to the floor? On all of my previous manuals, I have done some of both but always wondered if it made any difference....

Supposedly leaving the clutch depressed is hard on the throw-out bearing. AFAIK there's no issue with pressure plate/disk wear. I've been driving manuals for 25+ and never had to replace a clutch. I tend to keep the clutch depressed at red lights so I think the effects are probably minimal.
