Electric/Electronic Rust Inhibitor

A couple decades ago, we bought a new '90 Acura Legend Coupe that was equipped (by the dealer) with a "Rust Evader".
We kept that car for about 7 years and I never had a car that rusted faster, despite the care I gave it. The piece of cowling at the bottom of the windshield rusted, along with the Legend lettering surrounded by bubbling rust on the trunk lid, the area around the gas filler flap and the rear wheel arches. In short, the Rust Evader was a useless product.
I believe there was a class action suit and that we got some compensation (not much) from the dealer, at which time, I removed it from the car. There's also this from the FTC:

Since Audi uses galvanized metal in there cars, you don't see many rusted ones. I'd just recommend keeping it clean and waxed.

Just so I understand this correctly.
You make a new account, and your VERY first and only post is to reply to a thread that is over FOUR YEARS old? Then you say you have a brother mechanic who swears by it.
Yea, we'll go ahead and take everything you say to heart.

Maybe it depends on where you're driving and in what conditions. I'm from Toronto so I feel like my car probably goes through some harsher, more damaging weather than if I was driving in Southern USA, for example.
I found a great article in the globe and mail (http://www.theglobea.../article535224/) showing how overpriced the erp's are when the dealer sells them. so i decided to check out the krown blog to hear their thoughts on electronic rust proofing (http://www.krown.com/blog/2014/06/el...st-protection/) and came across the list of products recommended by the Automobile Protection Agency - thought I should post it here for folks:

They give a pretty good run-down on how dealers profit but drivers are overcharged with these devices. They also list some trusted rustproofers from Canada.
