Can I ask a stupid question?
I have a 2009 B8 S4 Avant ( 6 speed Manual trans) and can't find the 'AUX IN' socket, which is reputedly in the centre console, or Arm rest. The car has the 6 disc autochanger and B&O sound package. I've also bought a lead that should connect, and play, my mp3 player through the socket in the glove box, but it does'nt work! I therefore cannot use my mp3 player with either the AUX IN or the glove box socket. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Most of us can't help you since there were no B8s S4s in the US in the 2009 model year. I don't believe our 2010 models have an aux input. Just a connector for the mp3 player in the glove box. We don't have a multi disc CD player either. Just a single CD in dash player. Have you checked the owner's manual? Have you tried connecting the Mp3 player and then using the MMI controls to choose the mp3 player input under MEDIA?

I've checked the storage 'box' under the armrest and there is a 12v socket and a small square blanking cover, which I assume is where the 3.5mm jack socket would be, if I had one! I don't understand why it's not there as I thought even the base models in the U.K.have this socket. The other option that I have tried is the cable from the glove box socket to my mp3 player, however the AMI system tells me I do not have a device connected! Thanks for the responses so far, any further help?

the iPod connection via the glove box is fantastic...best part of the audio system
if I were you I wouldn't bother with the aux jack...just get your iPod cable straightened out. My 2009 B8 A4 Avant came with the wrong cable, so that might have happened to you. There are different cables for different years. My car got the Q7 cable for some reason.
If you don't use an iPod, start. It's a great solution. Or use the SD cards...but just make sure you use one of these two so that you can have the whole thing on screen and controlled by the steering wheel controls. Otherwise you're missing a great part of the B8's functionality.

Yes - The 6 Disc changer was dropped for the MY10 A4 and the introduction of the S4 for MY10 in the US.

As far as I know, YES. Perhaps an 6 disc changer could be dealer installed. But with the ipod connection in the glove compartment and the SD slot in the audio console, not many want it or complain about not having it. I guess Audi feels that the CD is ging the way of the Cassette. Plus you can store more music on an ipod and SD card. Not to metion the Sat radio option as well.
