I am almost afraid to mention it. Nonetheless, I am surprised I don't see the CLA as subject of conversation on this forum . I am sure most s4 owners do not like the styling. However, does anyone see the CLA45 as an alternative to the s4? If the next gen b9 s4 moves to a 4banger, I think the s4 and cla will be brought up in the same sentence more often.

I think it is more comparable to the upcoming S3 than an S4 size-wise.

I hear you on size but it seems CLA will kill the s3 on power and performance. I just read that it will click off a 12.7 in the 1/4. Price seems to be closer to s4 as well.

True, but I'd probably cross shop a C63 with an S4. The CLA/C63 seem to align more with an RS3/4 better than anything. It sounds like an impressive package but for me the S4 is as small as I'd go. I'm too big!

The CLA has a completely useless backseat...it might as well be a coupe. If you are over 5'2", it is tough to get in the back at all.

As for engines, the April 2014 Car and Driver has a short article (page 58, but not online) on the 2015 A4 and upcoming S4. It says the S4 will have a supercharged V-6 (sound familiar?). Hopefully with even more HP.

As a side note, I am still not sure the C63 is really a direct competitor of the S4...probably a better competitor the the RS4 (that isn't sold here). The C63 for sales at my local MB dealer stickers for $93K...and it wasn't a black series! Yikes!

Hey tried a CLA 45 and although it went really well not the instant response of the S4 and a continuous engine drone at cruising speed - so I am trading in my E350 for an S4 :-)

There are some other articles out this week indicating the B9 A4 has been delayed a year to summer 2015 (so MY 2016). Agreed on C63 lining up better with RS4 than S4.

I'd say that is a bit of an exaggeration. I have a CLA45 and am 5'11" and have no issues getting in and out of the back. It's not that bad but definitely not the size of an S4 in the rear.
