I went with Hawk Ceramic and Zimmerman. So far so good (8k miles). Just be sure to get the correct discs, there are several models. Early B8 models, late models, straight fins, pin fins, curved fins....29.5 mm thickness 30 mm...etc.

For my 2012 VIN with pin fins
Zimmerman Z-coat plain brake rotors for the 2012 B8 S4
Front OE # 4G0615301(G) - Zimmerman # 100.3356.20 (345mm x 30mm...NOT 345x29.5)
Rear OE # 4H0615601H - Zimmerman # 100.3358.20 (Pair 330mm x 22mm)

While on subject of discs: my rears seem worn and half way thru pads. I'm wondering if brought to dealer (still under warranty), and I requested them to measure thickness and found less than spec; would they replace?

I highly doubt they will change them under warranty as they are a wearing part. Now if a rotor cracked or pad came apart, then they would probably cover under warranty.

Brake pad wear is not a covered warranty item. Same for clutch
