It would be more interesting & tempting, if it was 8 inches shorter. The current S4 B8 is plenty big.

I really like the S6 but it's more than I want to spend on a car right now. I don't care for the S7's rear end.

I have been considering the s7. I like it but I don't really need a new car right now; my s4 isn't even three years old yet. Also with all of them being pre-sold at this point my feelings are unlikely to change. But if an extra one showed up around here I'd probably go check it out.

The 0-60 in 3.7 seconds and 1/4 in 12.1 seems a bit far fetched to me.
Just FYI, a bone stock, owner driven, dealership purchased M5 just ran 11.8 somewhere in the US...and I believe it ran 11.9 or 12.0 in that test vs. the S6. It's not absurd to think the S6 would run what it ran in that test (or better).

It seems improbable to have a 4200 lb car run like this making 'only 420 hp'. The truth is that the power curve is pretty amazing. Basically it is the power curve of a 500+ hp car, but they artificially limit the top end via boost control, starting up around 5500 RPM. It goes flat. The torque curve is not really a curve but a flat line, with full torque coming on full rocket in the 1500 RPM area.

The B8 S4 is the same...basically makes 400+ hp type power but is artifically limited at around 5000 rpm via boost control to keep peak power down to around 350 hp. But up until there, it is performing like a 400+ hp raped ape...and the torque curve is epic.

All these manufacturers at the high end are doing this with the forced induction cars...giving them insane performance in the low end, and then limiting them up top. This accomplishes a couple of things

1. happy customers
2. happy insurance and tax people in various international countries where they factor in hp and tq 'ratings'. Some of the countries in northern Europe charge tens of thousands of dollars in levies on 'performance' cars. Other places charge road tax and carbon tax based on power. Other places charge crazy insurance premiums based on hp ratings.

this

a V8 B8 would be cool...but 192-194 inches is monstrous. We're looking at D2 A8 size nearly. Those are big boats. We have seen a few B8 owners shift into the new S6 and I have heard them all reference the size being a slight negative. I'm sure they don't want to say much though, having just shelled out $80,000 lol.

I just ordered one...
I was heading to my local dealership to show my wife the size of the car (nornal A6 Prestige), to my surprise, they had just received an "extra" vehicle, so I arranged for a test drive the next day. WOW the car is very impressive, the sound is intoxicating.
I have previously owned a C5 A6 4.2 and really liked the size. Truly is great for long distance cruising.
The seats are very comfortable and supportive, they look fantastic, I think the thigh bolsters are set at a slightly different angle and may be a little "wider". The "Diamond" pattern seats is visually striking.
I now have to wait 3 to 6 months, depends on when I get a build date.

I will probably make this switch in a year or 2 depending on whats happening in my life at that time. I love the S6, only gripe is that I would want a third pedal... It will be a tough choice to make.

I'd be interested in how the S6/S7 does on a track, particularly in the twistys, vs. an S4. Would suspect that the S6/7's advantage on the straights would be negated by the smaller S4's advantage in the twisty's, but that would be an assumption. If the S6's handling is not all that much different than the S4 I might consider one...
