^ Exactly man! An S4 is for haulin' *** .. PERIOD.. Why buy it then? To say... Oh.. I own an S4.. seems to me that BMW drivers really are making the switch to Audi! In fact the other day I saw a new Monsoon Grey S4 with Grandma driving it? WTF! Unreal. I am not a teenager either I am 37 and have owned and driven all types of cars over the years from Lambos, Ferrari, R8s, Porsche etc . . . I am a car enthusiast like 95% of the people on this Forum. Also what cops? V1 hardwired with Laser jammers come on Bro! Wha?

Good on you for getting 27mpg with this car. I average 8 (seriously) since I got my new exhaust... I just can't...drive...slowly.
I'm hoping an ECU mod improves mileage a bit but if not, I'll just be steadily increasing my fuel budget each month...

To the OP who was trying to give us some good news and got flamed by all the guys who "drive it like they stole it"....thanks for your input. I just picked up my S4 last weekend and was thrilled to get 29 mpg on my way to work. Yes, I do drive it and every other car I've had very hard occasionally, but on my commute to work it's nice to get way better gas mileage than the C63 I traded in. I too was pleasantly surprised to find it lives up to its EPA estimates. The testosterone that floats around on these forums at times is comical.

I'll usually get about 20mpg with a mix of highway/local driving.
On a trip on LA to Vegas (all highway averaging 85mph) I got 28mpg on the way there on "Comfort"
On the way back I got 30mpg on "Auto"
--all this is from the onboard trip computer which overestimates.
I have no complaints about the fuel efficiency, but secretly I'm hoping for a gas-card rebate like the Hyundai owners are getting. lol

I clocked 33mpg per trip computer on my 14 mile commute this morning in auto mode. ACC set at 60mph, on a straight, flat highway with a 600' elevation drop (ever so slightly downhill).
Made up for it by hitting the back way home (twisty highway) in dynamic mode and gunned it at every opportunity. 18mpg, rock on!

I'm pretty **** about calculating mileage on every fillup, and I average:
21.94 mpg in S4 over 33,980 total miles and
20.27 mpg in RS5 over 451 total miles.
I drive pretty hard much of the time, and spend a fair amount of time in dynamic in the S4 and better than 50% of the time in dynamic in the RS5. The only way to do 8 mpg in the S4 is 0-100-0 from stoplight to stoplight at each and every stoplight.
