Hey gang.

I just received my 12 S4 last week and had the dealer install the Alu-Optic package as I didn't initially order it so it wasn't installed at the port.

My question is about the finish...is it simply painted silver (mine is) or is it supposed to be matte finish aluminum look (as Audi seems to describe this package). I had posted this question on Audizine and the comments so far is that it is and has always been painted.

I see other comments on the web stating differently...i wish I could look another car to compare, but I am out of luck and would like to resolve this with my dealer if something is not right.

They sure do look like Aluminum that matches the mirror caps. Those of you that have them...are they brushed aluminum look or simply painted silver?

i know the mirrors are definnitely painted silver. Not sure about the side blades...

I bought them and they are sitting in my living room. They are painted plastic.

Was rather dissapointed for the cost. I thought they would be like the lip spoilers on the front and rear of the car

They're in a brushed aluminum finish that's the same as the mirrors.

True but they aren't an exact match IMHO

I thought brushed aluminum was the texture found in the standard inlays on the interior.

The mirrors have a more polished look, and I believe the side blades should "look" more like the front spoiler piece (which the mirrors are almost identical to). Whether they are painted or not is beyond me.

Please correct me if I am wrong about brushed aluminum.
