Default Did you wait until 5K miles for first oil change?
Did you wait for the first oil change until 5,000 miles or did you have one performed sooner, if so when and what oil?

I had the free 5k service (oil change and tire rotation) done at the dealer a little before 5K miles (probably 4,800 or something like that).

IMHO, no need to change before 5K. Oil will be protective for at least 2-3K more. Oil filter will remove any larger particles. Any metal particles smaller than the oil filter removes will actually help in the 'wear in" process.

5K here as well.
A lot of manufacturers put a break-in oil in the engine so no need to rush that out of there.

Concur on the break in oil and it is synthetic so I waited the 5k. However, will change it every 5K in the future!
