Default 3G MMI Crashing iPhone?

So this has happened twice now. When I first picked up the car and paired it with my iPhone 3G, the iPhone crashed a few minutes later. Blank screen, completely unresponsive. I had to hold down the home and power buttons and reset the phone.

Today I made a phone call through the MMI. It said "Connecting..." Then took a really long time and eventually said "This function is not supported by your phone" I looked at the phone, and it had crashed again. Had to reset it. Call went through fine after that.

Not sure what's causing this, but the phone works fine with all other bluetooth headsets and I can't remember the last time it crashed like that.

Anyone else having issues?

I've had my S4 for a month now and haven't had any problems like described above. In fact I have never had my iPhone crash with a blank screen. Good luck.

Have you upgraded your iPhone to the latest v3.1 software? I am on v3.1 and it just happened a 3rd time. Initiate a call through the MMI, iPhone crashes. Restart the iPhone, try again, and it works.

Just found a 21 page thread on the Apple support forums with people reporting iPhone freezing problems after updating to v3.1. I guess it's not MMI related, it just happens to freeze more often when interacting with the MMI. The phone just froze in my pocket just now when I wasn't even using it. Had to do another hard reset!

I upgraded to 3.1 and started to have drop calls so I guess it is the phone not the car. I am just about to have it with this piece of crap and going back to WM...
