Suspension noise.....HELP!!!!
05 b6 s4. I have this loud clunking noise comming from the passenger front tire area during full wheel deflection. The car is still under warrenty so I had Audi look at it. They came back and said that service managers and mechanics could not duplicate the issue. They also said they checked all suspension parts including upper and lower control arms. All is tight. Stock wheels and tires. stock suspension. With the wheel turned all the way, if you start to accelerate you can feel the car almost skip on the pavement as if the tire is rolling over a bit. Any ideas?

If it's at or near full-lock, at low speeds, could be the front diff. binding a bit.
If you're close to the end of warranty, they could be waiting for a full-pop repair, which pays more than warranty repair.
If you can do it consistently, "duplicate" it for them. Several times.

The car was bought certified pre-owned so it has an extended warrenty. It only happens when your stopped , you have the wheel turned all the way , and you start to accelerate and straighten out. It pops pretty loud and you can feel the car jump a little. Booooo. Dif repair huh? sounds exspensive.

Re: it's an AWD car, don't lock the wheel. Not only is it bad for the steering rack but it's also ba
Yea I understand that. Its not like i'm hanging on the steering wheel after it hits the stops. I understand that it is not good to do that. It doesn't nessesarily happen at the stops of the rack either.

The more the steering is turned, the more L/R stress is induced with power.
These cars have considerable power, so getting hard on the gas (or even not all that hard with the S4's torque) with the steering anywhere near lock creates a speed difference between L & R, and the Diff can only float so much of it, not to mention what it does to the CV Joints, which may also be what you hear screaming for mercy.
