S4 vs RS4
Hey guys
I just got myself a wonderful 2008 S4 and was curious as to what the difference between the s4 4.2 and the rs4 4.2. Is it possible to upgrade the S4 to rs4 specs? or is that crazy talk?
Ive seen some of the stege 3-5 stuff for the s4 but damn that rs4 engine looks good ok guys thanks in advance

The S4 hits max torque and HP sooner. I've had pulls with a modded RS4 and a stock RS4. modded RS4 pulls slightly, stock RS4 pulls, barely. The pulling depends on the gear you are in vs the gear they are in.
To make the motor similar would be very, very expensive considering the RS4 motor is a total handbuilt quattro gmbh build. The throttle body, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, cylinders, bottom end, cams, etc. Not to mention the FSI components. That and the differentials in the RS4 have hypoid gear which an S4 does not. This allows 100% of available power to go to one specific wheel on the end that has the most grip.
I've gone the route of lighter wheels, filter, exhaust, ECU, suspension, brakes, differential, etc....and to tell you the truth, the difference is the driver. Hands down.

You can upgrade to the PES G4 supercharger for 8500, plus a few grand more for installation i am sure. It puts out 515hp and 465 Tq. Add stasis suspension and some alcons brakes, and you will walk all over any RS4 stock.
