S4-4WD,,, is it ok to do wheel alignment, at local tire store?
Hello, all,
please let me ask you experts one basic question.
So far, whenever I need to do wheel alignment for my S4, I usually go to dealer, because I thought "S4's 4-wheel-drive" could be something special, so probably local tire shops couldn't do that well.
Am I right? Otherwise, is it ok to do the wheel alignment at local tire store?
(When I asked them if they could, they said yes, but still I'm not sure.)
Thanks,

I would never take my car to a non-audi tech to do my alignment. With that said, the stealership is not always a better option. I personally would go to a mechanic that let me look with him/her for any abnormal tire wear. That really is the only way to know if you are getting a good alignment and you're not roasting your expensive tires. Before they align it, make notes of where the tires have worn. After the alignment, next time you rotate the tires, check and see if the wear has evened out. Generally, those big box tire stores won't let you look with the mechanic. In addition, why would they care about how your tires are wearing. This car should be aligned by someone who understands how they drive, how the tires wear, that they can have a bit of toe in, and they are very heavy vehicles. Joe Bob at Discount Tires could care less about your $60k car.

i work at NTB and i have aligned my S4 we have a Hunter engineering alignment rack. there is really no way u can align the car wrong the computer tells u what to do and every bolt to turn, with a gauge with the degrees that shows every suspension angle.
so people should not be afraid to take it to a tire store most of the time they have quality equipment.
