I'm certain that this issue is with my remote starter, but I was hoping somebody here can at least point me in the right direction.

The Viper 5500 SST 2 way Remote Start System installed in my 2007 S4, now fails most of the time.

The engine turns over, runs for approximately 1 second, then shuts off.

underneath the odometer, (the trip-o-meter?) it reads "SAFE". then after successfully starting the car with my key it shows the correct miles.

Anybody know what "SAFE" means?

Maybe your not properly bypassing the immobilizer.

Is that even possible ? immobilizer is part of the ECU I thought

remote start seems to work, one out of 10 times - it is indeed possible to bypass the immobilizer.

I'm wondering if "SAFE" has something to do with engine rpm.... maybe it's too low or too high?

keeps people from stealing your car.... I wouldnt use it personally.. you dont know what it can mess up in the ignition system...

SAFE means the immobilizer isn't detecting the key, so it runs for 1 second and cuts the engine
