I've got a 2004 S4 and when I make tight turns at slow speeds (especially when backing up and making a turn) I hear one loud pop or crack sound. The CV axle looks OK but I'm not signaling it out yet. I did a little research and found an old thread on a different forum where a couple other people had the EXACT same issue but it doesn't look like it was ever resolved (http://www.audiforums.com/forum/gene...g-sound-35168/)... Anyone seen this before?

did You find a problem? I have same thing going on. I might find some time to put it on the lift tomorrow. let you know

Sounds like control arm bushings to me.

i have the same issue. it is definitely the CV joint. it has to be. a new one is about $150

If there's relatively soft clicking/ticking that increases in rate the deeper you go when making a slow turn, that has been indicative of a failing control arm in the past for me. Friend also had the same issue with his recently purchased used A4.

It's just one loud pop. I too was thinking it was either the CV joint or bad bushings but under visual inspection they all seem fine... I'm leaning more to that I have bad bushings but it's still more of an "educated guess" than an actual definite solution.
