Is it just me or is the Distance-To-Empty feature completely useless on this car?

All B6 A4s and S4s with Quattro have a capacity of 66 litres or 17.4 USG (FWD A4s have...
A Capacity of 70 litres or 18.5 USG).
Starting with the B7 models the tanks capacity on the A4s and S4 (Quattro) drops to 63 litres or 16.6 USG. The B7 A4 in FWD version retains the 70L/18.5 USG tank.

There's definitely some conflicting specs printed
Even at the time it was happening there was another number being tossed about that was printed in an insert to the late model 2004's. There was a post or two about it, I'll have to see if I can coax the search function to find it.
I just went out and double-checked my manual and it shows 16.6 gal and there are no correction inserts. The 2005 PDF posted here on AW shows 17.4 gal. It also has a disclaimer that says "Accurate at time of printing." Even with the disclaimer the number doesn't make sense because the change happened with the 2004 models.
