Is it just me or is the Distance-To-Empty feature completely useless on this car?

It was pretty accurate on my A4; I could get another 10-20 miles after it said 0.

However, the other day I got zero on my DTE display on the S4 and when I went to fill up I found that I had at least 2 gallons left in the tank. WTF - that's awfully pessimistic.

Default I never have added more than 15.x gal

even after driving 30+ miles when it said 0 miles and the gauge was below red.

Default IIRC there is some discrepancy on the fuel tank size...

along with mirror housings, pop up lighter outlets, exhaust flaps....

weird things...

Default Mine hides 2 gallons when it says 0 miles to empty.

I figured it's because with a V8, that might mean I have 20 miles to find a gas station, which wouldn't be enough for some people that live in the boonies.

Default Yep, there are two different tank sizes

Early 2004's had 17.4 gallon tanks. Somewhere around Nov 2003 builds Audi switched to 16.6 gallon tanks.

There is a 2 gallon reserve when you hit 0 miles to empty.

Interesting, plus who says that all gas stations's gauges are accurate

Default Even so...

Depending on state requirements a pump might not get checked often enough. Still, the discrepancies are not enough to make a significant volume difference in a small tank.

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/texassouthwest/stories/080107dntexgaspumps.cc6e62ae.html</a

BE CAREFUL! My tank went dry with 60 miles showing!
