Early Clutch Failure 33K miles. Is this common?
Went to shift into 3rd yesterday, clutch stayed on the floor. $tealer says $3200 as flywheel, clutch & pressure plate all one assembly. (Flywheel alone $900) They haven't had it apart yet but believe the clutch came apart. (I pulled the pedal back up, there's some resistance at the end of it's travel, but it doesn't disengage.)
Bought the car with 4800 miles, CPO, driven somewhat hard from time to time, never raced, never abused, never lent to a teenager.
Do our clutches just suck this bad?

Re: Yes they suck that bad. The first two AOA covered. Third one...what can i say other then
Were the first two within the warrantee period? Or did AoA just do it to keep their customer happy? How many miles did the first one last?

Did yours wear out or self destruct? @ what mileage?
Looks as though you changed it yourself. Do you have a shop, or is it just worth it given the frequency of this failure?
Also I couldn't be sure from the pic's but it looked like there was still a lot of material left on the disc. was it another part that failed?
I love this car but an extra $3K payment every two or three years is excessive.
