Default CPO at lease end

I don't know if this is typical, but my dealer agreed to buy my S4 at the lease-end and sell it back to me as a CPO (6 years and 100k miles), and the purchase price was the same as the buy-out price in the lease. The dealer (Stevens Creek in San Jose) did a good job and made the process very easy for me.

Even though the CPO is not transferable, I am able to keep the car now and wait to buy a new Audi when I'm ready (maybe the new sc'ed S4). Since I didn't buy a new car now, I did pick a new commuter car, a 2008 STI.

And the dealer probably was able to buy out the lease for less than the residual, which made them a few dollars also.

Default You had a good dealer to work with...

Unfortunately I wasn't so lucky. The salesguy I got my S4 from was long gone, and the people I talked with weren't interested in dealing with selling it back to me, financing, or CPO. Their agenda was clear...they wanted me to return the S4 and put me in a new Audi. Good people at a dealership goes a long way. Criswell Audi in Annapolis isn't one of them. Congrats on it all working out for you.

Plus... they get credit for CPO sales as well as incentives for units sold.. always good.

You can get them without the BBS/nav upgrade for $34-35k. The BBS/nav upgrade adds about $4k+.

Default I did the same thing back in Feb...

Might have been able to save a few bucks by doing the same thing through AFS but I have had good luck / relationship with the dealer and they discounted the CPO for me. Still if $$$ is your key driver, you can probably do better through AFS (assuming that is who your lease is with) - similar warranty (not CPO) and theirs can be transferred.

I wanted a warranty (because it is transferrable), but my dealer wouldn't do it for a similar price.
