this may provide some info you're looking for..
granted its a thread that compares the 335xi and the 335i..
Also, KW makes a variant 3 suspension for the 335xi. Quaife, i think, has an lsd available but its supposedly a waste of money (not sure).

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79114</a

BMW logic:
Not a hard-core performance car and the car has stability / traction control anyway.
I hate the logic, but that's what their excuse is...Our Z8 doesn't have limited slip either, and that makes no sense at all...

Not a hard core performance car?? Wow, now I'm seeing how BMW cheaped out...
My 1993 525i had limited slip differential, granted it was a $500 option..
I'm shocked to see BMW cut corners in those kind of performance areas... What next? a BMW on a FWD platform? that should save some more money on the drivetrain as well...

Ive owned a B6S4 and now B7A4. I like BMW for their balance and handling
and the E46 M3 is one of my favorite looking cars.
unbiased right here.
I could own a BMW fine. But I love the way Audi feels inside, the material, the design, and they look really god outside. Not shouty, but not dull either. They are beautiful. A little heavy in AWD form but reasonable.
The draw back to the 4.2 was mpg.
all my opinions and reasoning hope it helps.

Same reply everytime... comparable performance but not close when it comes to interior/design...
335xi is also way cheaper to lease than the S4 so there is also the exclusivity factor if you like the fact that there isn't a S4 in every parking space.

Agreed
I saw a few 2008 BMW's recently at an auto show and I was shocked to see how dated the interior looked. It was nice mind you, but the materials and layout looked like the mid 80's to my father-in-law and I. I said something to the sales rep about it, he immediatley looked at the ground, and agreed.
