Anyone in south SF bay area or peninsula with a stock suspension B6S4 willing to drive my car?
Original thread is towards bottom of page now.
To recap:
Got a new set of tires (Eagle F1 Asymmetrics) and S4 is handling really sloppy -- as if the sway bars were removed or something (Streetwerke says they're fine). I don't think the tires are the problem as they appear to be properly installed, but perhaps it's "something" the tire mechanic did to my car while he was supposedly replacing the tires -- as noted in the original thread, he appears to have taken it out for a quick joy ride before he changed my tires (though it's a week ago now and I can't prove much of anything at this point). Then again, maybe I'm just hypersensitive to handling differences. To me, the most obvious difference is that the car is no longer surefooted when changing lanes on the highway like it used to be. I was hoping that perhaps another B6S4 driver in the area can tell me if there's anything obviously wrong with the way my car handles.
(I've cross-posted this in the norcal regional forum, but it seems to get very little traffic these days, so hoping some Bay Area folks look here more often.)
Other pertinent details:
* took it to Streetwerke in Palo Alto this morning -- they didn't find anything glaringly obvious given a cursory glance on the lift. Mechanic double checked the tire pressures and lug nut torques.
* asymmetric tire orientation is correct on all 4 wheels
* tire pressures double checked to be 40 all around.
* Have already put 250 commuting miles on car since tires were changed, so the manufacturing oil theory is unconvincing to me.
* other than brake pads and tires, everything is pretty much stock on the car.

250 miles highway miles isn't very much, TireRack recommends 500

Some other things to check:
-Alignment
-Control arm bushings
-Check springs/shocks?
The tires do rate quite low for comfort and noise...
I'd try and get some other tires on there, and check, as it appears you might have a set that is out of round or something else.
Good luck.<ul><li><a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR4&url=%2Ftires%2Ftests%2FchartDisplay.js p%3Fttid%3D101">Poor comfort rating</a></li></ul>

What tires did you have before?
Years back I went from S-03's to T1-S and the car felt "sloppy". The S-03's had very stiff, very heavy sidewalls. The T1-S had more flexible and lighter sidewalls. Nothing wrong with the tires, they just felt different. I got used to it over time.
