Default Anyone have a headlight removal DIY?

Looking to remove the headlights in order to do the infamous O-ring mod. Anyone? Do I need torx drivers, etc?

Thanks guys

Default Four (4) Torx 25 Bolts...

Two on the top, and two on the bottom. Then just disconnect the harness and it will come out.

Then watch this video on the harness removal.

It's easy, will just need an extender for the 2 lower torx bolts

Default Yes you need a torx set, but it is pretty easy...

Depending on which side, you have to remove a bit of stuff to get to the back screws (air intake). If you want, email me and I can send you the Bentley manual pages someone else sent me when I did mine.

Default The Dr side rear bolt wants to fall out & down every time---be careful...

and if it falls down in there, you're not gettin' it back, barring removal of a whole bunch of lower panels. Total PITA. Problem is there's not much room right there. Keep a magnetic pick-up at the ready just in case.

Make sure the headlight lower slide tabs are fully lined up and slide in properly when ytou reinstall, too---or else they'll never be straight.

Just a couple of tips from a guy who has pulled them more than a few times to "de-aquariumize" them.

2nd. Just losen the rear bolts. Removal not necessary.

Default Uh, did that too..(blushes)...took a few times to get the technique down...but now

that I have done pretty much everything that can be done to prevent the fogging up, she pretty much stays clear now---and that's saying a lot, seeing as I just drove 850m back from Seattle, through snow & rain for 14 hrs through the Siskiyous and a nonstop downpour.

The fix can be done.

Default What about this tube connected to the passenger side headlight?

At least it's there on mine... seems like its the headlight washer fluid tube or something... it's attached to the headlight.

I don't know if it's supposed to screw out or I yank it out?
