2004 Audi S4 New Clutch & Flywheel but wont go into gear
I just recently underwent replacing my stock clutch and flywheel with the JHM lightweight flywheel and clutch kit. It has been on for about 2500 miles now. At first it seemed fine. Then it started to make a little chatter when cold starting it. Along with this chatter came a little vibration when starting to move the car from a standpoint if you didn't rev it fast enough. Now that I'm at 2500 miles all of a sudden the car barely goes into gear when running. While the car is off there is absolutely no restriction to putting the car in gear. As soon as you start the car there is something keeping you from putting it in gear almost as if the clutch isn't pressed in far enough despite being pressed to the ground. I can pump the clutch and let it out in neutral which then gives it just enough room to slide into gear. However, as I put it into gear the car starts to roll. This continues through all gears and you have to float them to avoid grinding. So far I have had the master cylinder replaced because it had a leak. On top of that the I had the throw out bearing and clutch fork checked and it seems as though everything is working fine. The mechanic told me the car seems to shift fine when you have all four wheels off the ground. I've heard there's a good chance it's the shift linkage. The mechanic I'm is a trusted friend but unfortunately he is not an Audi specialist. Is there a possibility he is missing something with the linkage? He just told me he is stumped so I'm trying to help him diagnose the problem. What is the possibility it is a transmission problem? Is this car worth keeping? Please help... Thanks.
