If I were you, that's what would probably help me decide more than anything else. Should we assume you ordered the new four door M3?
My guess is they'll have similar torque. The M3, being smaller, no doubt is more agile. Manual vs auto tranny is another obvious consideration.
The RS6 should shine in back seat comfort and, IMO, panache. AWD is another plus, especially in snow country -- although RWD can be attractive for drivers who like to burn rubber.
Money-wise, the RS6 already has taken its biggest depreciation hit, while the M3 -- like almost any new car -- probably is destined for a significant hit once it leaves the showroom. Can't be 100% certain of that, though. Some new models are so "hot" they generate waiting lists, which in turn keeps resale value high. The M3 is so new, I haven't heard one way or the other.
Another possible factor: If you bail on the M3, will you lose much, or any, money?
