Okay, I have seen RS6's on eBay going for anywhere from $30,000 to $45,000 depending on mileage. That seems CRAZY cheap considering how much they were new.

The wife and I are 'normal' people with normal incomes.
It is realistic for us to go out and buy, let's say a MKV GTI totally loaded, for around $27,000 plus tax, or even an R32 for $32,000. That is the most I would ever see us spending on a car for quite awhile. I think $32,000 is probably our ceiling. So, we aren't 'wealthy' people by any means, but make a good living where we are. An Audi is an expensive car, well, at least ones we would consider (B6 S4's, new S5), and thus we will never buy a new one.


We will not be in the market for a year or two (two most likely) and I would really like to consider an RS6 as our next car. She would take over my 2000 jetta (supercharged VR6) as a daily (only has 40,000 miles on it right now), so that should last us quite a few more years. I would then use the RS6 as a daily. I drive 5 miles to work and back each day, so mileage would be negligable during the week...it would be 'exercised' on the weekends (not abused though). At the time I would purchase one, it would be a 7 or 8 year old car...I would like one with the least miles of course.

These are the things that I need to know:

What are the operating costs like?

Ownership costs/repairs?

Mileage?

Any major issues? (like B5 S4's, 100,000 miles you basically need to pull the entire motor to put new turbos on at an expense of $6,000 or more) and they had all kinds of other issues, but were monsters with new turbos/chip,etc.)

The only thing I have read so far says that the timing belt needs to be changed every 35,000 miles for nearly $2,500 each time. Well, obviously that is expensive, thus I would imagine we wouldn't put that mileage on for at least 3-4 years each time.

Mods???? Chips, exhaust, body kits (keep in mind, i like very reserved, but unique kits, Oettinger on the S4, etc., but what is even available for this car?
