Default I did the install myself and I purchased a A8 airbag (more)...

To get the A8 airbag to work properly with the RS4, and also get the buttons on the wheel to work, you need to swap the stock airbags wiring harness with the A8 one.

Here is what you need to do:
- Disconnect the battery
- Pop the covers off the back side of the steering wheel
(they are at 3 & 9 o'clock - use your fingers)
- Loosen the screws at 3 & 9 o'clock (I think using a 30 torx)
- Carefully pull the airbag out and disconnect the airbag harness and other plug
- Swap the stock wiring harness with the A8 harness
(this won't be necessary if you happen to purchase a Euro RS4 airbag)
- Remove the steering wheel center bolt (a 9mm Hex will work)
- Install new wheel and follow these instructions in reverse.

You will also need to VAG the car to get the buttons on the wheel to work.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/rs4b7/msgs/30431.phtml">VAG codes</a></li></ul>
