Default Confused ... current pricing?

I just started my search for a RS4 sedan, I am year agnostic. I am far more concerned with how the vehicle was maintained. I would prefer to stay in the mileage range of 30-60k, shouldn't be too hard when looking at cars.com and autotrader.com.

There seems to be a very significant difference between Edmunds TMV and KBB, now I know KBB is historically high but it doesn't usually seem to be 7-10K high. For example, KBB seems to price an '07 with 50k miles at ~$37K +/- but Edmunds TMV would have you believing that the same car is $27-29K.

So what can I realistically expect to pay via private party or dealer for an extremely well maintained, 1-2 owner, sedan?

Thanks.

I think the problem you are running into is rarity and age. With them being 6-7 years old now, you have some on the market that have been daily driven, and have over 90-100k miles. Those are driving the market down compared to the ones that were more weekend only use and have maybe 40k miles.

I agree, there is a significant spread in the RS4 market. For the mileage you are looking for, I would say you would be right around the $40k range. ($38k-45k.) Good luck!

Agree, and if you compare cars.com actual RS4's for sale to let’s say another car like the A4 for 2007 & 2008 you will see less of a price spread for the RS4, at any given time you usually only see 40-50 RS4's for sale with ~ 1/4 of them convertibles..so i personally take those car value suggestions with a grain of salt when looking for this type of car.

A4 2007-08 = 1400 vehicles for sale
High = 26k ---low = 5.9k

Vs.

RS4 2007-08 = 49 vehicles for sale
High = 51k--- low = 27.5k

Agreed - the other thing to be mindful of is condition.

A car that is 6 or 7 years old that has been well looked after and maintained can still present very well and IMO should command a higher price tag. A car that has been neglected for 6 or 7 years will appear very second hand/tired.

Thanks everybody. It makes sense that it is most likely driven by low production volumes, statistically speaking anyway. I still find it strange that there is that much disparity, there wasn't that much when I purchased my '96 993 C2.

Thanks again, the range $35-45k seems about right for a 1-2 owner well maintained (documented) sedan with 30-60k miles.

Bought my 07 in Dec '12 with only 18k miles on it - paid $47,500. A bit high but the car is pristine - no scratches, dents and the paint + interior looks new.

I'm at 34k miles now and wouldn't sell for less than $45,000.

Took me almost a year and a half of looking for the right colour and condition - I started seriously looking when I joined here, lol.

Take your time and do your homework - it'll pay off. And try to avoid getting emotional... lol - good luck.

BTW, I'm in Ontario, Canada.

I purchased my '07 with 52k miles about 3 years ago now for $38k. It had an excellent service history and was owned by an enthusiast, the later helping the most I suspect.

With 69k miles now, the condition of the vehicle, I believe I could sell it for $30-$32k without much fuss.

Given the requirements you have set, I think you are right on the money for $40k-ish. I would suggest, don't discount a higher mileage RS4 with a excellent service history in great condition. They are as equally awesome!

Well this is going to my first post here at AudiWorld- usually over at Swedespeed, but thinking of making the jump over to ze Germans.

Any suggestions for things to look for while looking at an RS4? Any major problems people run into?
Thanks, hoping to do an introduction post in the near future.
