oil change
i know this probably has been discussed a few times, i search and couldn't find any relevant topics.
im having a friend do the oil change at his shop, he carries motul.
i was putting the castrol syntec but i don't trust the dealer with the car, they are idiots. should i stick with the syntec, or is motul a little better?
also, how many quarts it usually takes?
thanks

Re: Love the oil brand question...IMHO what ever brand floats your boat.... 9 qts plus 1 to top off.
i usually keep a few quarts of castrol in the trunk.. just figured since that is what he stocks and also heard it's audi certified oil.
i may go to walmart and get a few cases of castrol. oil is oil i guess and i feel like floating my boat.. hit 65 degrees today

Get some popcorn and a drink, this should get real interesting
Castrol Syntex is NOT a friend of the RS4 DI engine. That oil is completely exhausted by the 3000-mile mark as documented by oil chemistry analysis of countless data points from all over the country. Castrol is susceptible to fuel dilution which greatly accelerates ring, cylinder wall, and bearing wear. Or perhaps you lease the car, in which case it doesn't matter! At least to you...
Now for the kicker: What you want to use, believe it or not, is vegetable oil!
