Obama's new tax plan..anything but a stimulus....

That's specific to Bushie and the war, not Republicans in general.......
and let's not forget that much of this mayhem was created by the mortgage crisis, the principles of which were established in the Clinton era.

You say that as if an entire Congress was non-existent that urged
even more spending by our government, and argued that not enough was being spent on this or that project (i.e. pushing loans to unqualified borrowers, etc.). The past excessive spending was part of what swept this current administration into power- Isn't is ironic that they are promoting even further wild governmental spending to "help resolve the excessive spending issues of the past" without any proposals for signficant spending reductions.
Let's be real- fiscal conservatives chide both sides for the excessive spending. We just have more to chide as even bigger deficit spending is occurring/promoted on a scale not seen previously. The $2.3 trillion dollars of "stimulus" that has been authorized since Feb/08 is off the charts and represents approximately a 20% increase during this short period of the overall national debt that accrued over the lifetime of our nation.
We are rightfully nervous about the bills headed to our, our children, and granchildren's mailboxes for this "Hail Mary" government spending plan that was rushed through the system with relatively little analysis and public review.

Agreed- BTW- I would welcome the opportunity to buy you dinner if
you ever get to the Central Arkansas area. I always enjoy discussions that involve differing opinions to explore alternatives <I'll try to keep my elbows off the table >.
The strength of our diversity is a tremendous asset.

I am also an MD with my own corporation and it doesn't offer me any real tax advantage. In fact
since I am considered self employed I have to pay both the employee and employer half of the FICA tax. Removing the cap would be a very significant tax penalty on self employed people earning over six figures and like Vijay I feel that I work very hard for my earnings.
