Default My mileage improved slightly after the update. Didn't notice anything else.....

There was a fair amount of buzz about the update on this forum in late spring (I think)

Default nice not to worry but

a week old and they fried the car's brain! rely on lemon laws to get a new replacement if things get delayed or ugly.

Default A Little info on the update

the ECU update is across the board for all FSI motors, Audi/VW apparently felt the ECUs code develop a memory check sum error if the update was not performed (I don't know if any other drivability updates are incorporated into the re-flash)

What can happen is if the connection is dropped while the car is programming the ECU might not be recoverable, apparently Audi/VW don't have the safe gaurds in place to prevent this like APR, example. So the connection must have dropped while they were programming your ECU, not sure if they will just order you a new ECU or send yours to AOA or AG for re-flashing, either way your car will be fine you just won't have it for a couple of weeks

Car out of service for a couple of weeks!!? Holy cow, sounds like an unjustified risk.
