If you swap the euro wheel, do you lose steering wheel buttons?

Yes, lost phone button
Sport button moves to steering wheel as well as DIS toggle and lap timer control. Bluetooth is controlled through RNS-E controls, which really isn't as bad as would seem - you're twising a **** rather than spinning a wheel with your thumb.
As far as changing tracks, I don't mind moving my hand a few inches to touch the radio controls...
Several here have done the same thing. For me the trade-off of having the euro wheel makes it worth moving my hand every now and then.

No they're still there, they just don't work ;)
The "haves" don't mind going without the buttons and the "have nots" won't give up the buttons.
You could always get a flat-bottomed R8 or TT wheel with working buttons, but the rim is not as thick as the Euro RS4 wheel.

so some of the buttons on the euro wheel can not be made to function?
or are you jokingly referring to the buttons that remain on my stock wheel after removing it.

The Euro wheel has 4 buttons...
After using a VAG to recode the wheel this is what they will do...
S: Controls "S" mode (the dash button will not work)
Set: Scrolls through VDO screen and setting items
+: Up
-: Down
So basically the S button replaces the dash button and the others replace the stalk buttons that control the VDO screen.
You lose all other controls. But, just about everyone will tell you it's worth it.

Totally worth it!
Now it feels like a race car "in your hands" instead of an A4. I don't miss the other functions for a second. Now when people who don't know what the RS4 look inside you car, they get a big confirmation that this is a serious machine.

Re: Mostly yes. John Stahmann has done the swap. It looks awesome but
Hi guys,
I have a bit of a problem on my hands here...
As I ordered my RS4 Avant, I told Audi that i did not want that awful cradle for the bluetooth functions. Those idiots didnt tell me that I'd have to sacrifice my flat bottomed steering wheel for the bluetooth in the armrest(grrrr)!!! (I live in Switzerland, that is why the flat bottomed steering wheel was an option for me ;-) )
Now,
I have the multi-function wheel fitted and I know that I want to retro-fit the flat one.
Is it possible to have the SPORT BUTTON activated on the new flat wheel? and is it possible to have the remaining 3 buttons like "SET" and "+" "-" done up to work like they should? Like Mr. Stahmann I don't care if I have to move my hand a few inches to turn the volume up or down, I do this most of the time anyway.
I know that there are code errors by simply changing the wheel. All I would like is to have a Flat bottomed steering wheel with all its functions working especially the SPORT button. a perfect retro-fit. No matter the cost. Is this possible? has this been done? (especially you guys because the EURO wheel was never an option for you and many of you like it's looks)
Please Audiworld, don't let me down like Audi has done... and like all the embarassingly quiet, non responsive, horrible european forums that are full of owners that never change anything on their cars.
Thanks so much in advance,
Best Regards,
Yannick
