I wonder what a spreadsheet comparision of the S4 with the MTM SC would reveal

Well the important thing is that the S4 and RS4 are nearly the same vehicle...
The chassis, all physical suspension components except for DRC, all driveline components minus different gear ratios on 2nd and 3rd only, ALL 06+ S4's come with the 40/60 Torsen (plus all 25th), slightly larger sway bars front and rear on the RS4, same gearbox internals and shift mechanisms, almost identical clutch components, steering components are exactly the same (rack, column, tie rods, steering wheel), RS4 sports an alu hood and front fenders and a wider wheel/tire package with a wider stance.
OK so we've got DRC with bigger sways, mild nose weight reduction and a more aggressive wheel/tire setup over an S4 B7. Add in an amazing rev-happy V8 and you've got some differences, but nothing so massive than an S4 with a few modifications couldn't keep up with and surpass. Nor is an RS4 anything more like another car other than an S4, the RS4 is an S4 variant, both of which are A4 variants.
Cheers,

always plugging. so, what do you have to sell me for my S4?...
to up it to near RS4 status? isn't that what this is really about? isn't that what you're all about??

didn't miss anything, including the few bones you throw rto the "Stock" RS4,...
which you undoubtedly have no respect for.
hey, i don't care. except i think it should ALWAYS be pointed out that you have one HUGE motive to sway opinion in favor of the modified car, period.
who do you think you're kiding here? the pattern is hopelessly obvious and transparent...ALWAYS come down hard on the side of the mods, and the stock car, no matter what car, is always lacking.
not that anyone in their right mind should be surprised regarding this blatant championing of what we(STaSIS) can do for your RS4, 911, Ferrari, Lambo... space shuttle. i love you guys!

Here's the biggest issue with upgrades.....
You get NOTHING back on them when you sell the car. I'm done with high level mods for that reason alone. I don't like it, I don't understand it, but if the used car market can't appreciate a nicely modded car, I can't keep dumping money into cars. I've spent over $100,000 in mods alone on cars I have owned over the years. I'm at the point in life where I can afford a level of car that doesn't need to be modded, and while I may do things like wheels and exhaust, that's about it. No more dumping 20,30,40k into my rides.

Re: RS4 has more in common with a 911 than an s4
That's silly thinking! To say that the RS4 has more in common with a Porsche than an S4 is just nonsense. 2 door sports coupe vs 4 door performance sedans. RS4s (like S4's)are heavy pigs, not specifically designed to fly around a tight track, unlike the Porsche. With that being said; Yes, the RS4 does fly, but totally different than a Porsche. BTW, Cayman's aren't as slow as you might think.
