Gruppe M intake installed

I totally hear what you are saying but.........
according to info conveyed by Audi and posted on this website (I forgot exactly where) very recently, it was noted that the RS4 intake and exhaust were restrictive and that the RS5 will have a freer flowing exhaust with dual intakes and dual throttle bodies to achieve it's 450hp rating.
That's where I got the info that the RS4 intake was restrictive. The RS4 is limited by engine by space that the RS5 is not.

The bright sun on it makes the miss-match more noticeable
But still much nicer than the stock plastic box. Have not put on a Dyno yet, But plan on doing one soon, Just a little nervous of having them blow my engine up.

I posted that information
I had been told that by a contact a quattro GmbH when I saw him 2 weeks ago.
Yes, according to him the engine bay in the RS4 is so small that it restricts the optimal air intake as well as the ideal exhaust diameter. According to him the RS5 has more room in the engine bay and will have dual air boxes with dual throttle bodies vs the single air box/single throttle body in the RS4 version. Also the exhaust diameter will most likely be larger.
I'm also the one that rode in the Champion RS4 and was told by them that they felt there wouldn't be enough of an improvement to the air intake to replace the stock airbox with something else - that it's pretty much optimal from their standpoint. Instead of airbox changes they had custom headers and a completely open exhaust system that probably makes more horsepower/torque than just an airbox alone could make.
I think there's only so much one can do in the cramped space of the RS4 engine bay to have an ideal intake setup. Short of cutting a hole in your hood, or replacing a headlight with an intake, this GruppeM solution is probably about as good as you will get.
On another note, there's a guy on the RS246 forums who ported and polished his RS4 intake manifold and saw an increase in his power as well.

I think a new manifold is about $1200, so for similar money, which one would you lean toward?

any noticeable loss of power up top?
always weary of chipping a normally aspirated engine.... I have a buddy that already has the program designed for me but I've been holding off. How long have you had the chip? Any issues when doing routine service at the stealership??
